Dear Colleagues, after some months of reflection, I’ve decided it’s time to explore the next chapter of my career. My last day as Executive Director of MR will be November 30, 2024.
I’m leaving MR in exceptional hands! I’m thrilled to share that the Board has appointed Pauline Lake as Acting Executive Director, effective December 1. Pauline’s dedication to MR’s mission, her outstanding leadership, and her expertise in managing major grants and educational initiatives make her the ideal person to guide MR forward. Over the past weeks, we’ve worked closely to ensure a smooth transition, and I know she’ll do an incredible job leading the organization.
Reflecting on nearly 17 years at MR—from starting as a Program Coordinator to stepping into the Executive Director role five years ago—I’m filled with gratitude with having the opportunity to dig into and develop such a meaningful body of work alongside my family, colleagues and friends. I came to work every day driven by our belief that manufacturing can be a transformative force for development. Expanding education and training has always been about more than good jobs; it’s about empowering people—especially youth and those most economically marginalized—to become leaders in shaping an equitable, sustainable economy.
Some of my fondest memories include collaborating with our amazing MR team to create innovative programs, activities, engaging our community, and being in schools, shop floors, and community centers. Whether talking to teachers, parents, or young people about their futures, we were planting seeds of possibility and opening doors to new careers.
To my colleagues, partners, funders, collaborators and former students: thank you. Your support of me and MR over the years has been invaluable. I’m deeply appreciative of all we’ve accomplished together.
As for what’s next—I’m looking forward to a well-earned break through the holidays to reflect and recharge as I consider new opportunities. Please stay in touch!
