Manufacturing Renaissance is humbled to have received the Community Empowerment Award at the 3rd Annual 4th Revolution Awards presented by MHub and MxD on October 2nd at the Museum of Science and Industry.
The Community Empowerment Award recognizes a program or an initiative that promotes diversity and inclusion in manufacturing. In front of 500 of our industry colleagues and friends, Manufacturing Renaissance was selected out of a group of 4 other worthy finalists. “We believe in and work toward ensuring that the people who were hurt most by industrial disinvestment in the past are prepared to benefit and participate in the 4th Industrial Revolution,” said Erica Staley, our Associate Director. “No one can do this work alone and we salute all of the many tireless groups and individuals that help advance this work,” she said.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution fuses physical product development with digital processes to impact all disciplines, economies and industries. Central to this revolution are emerging technology breakthroughs in the field such as the Internet of Things, autonomous vehicles, 3D printing, robotics and artificial intelligence. It is a technological revolution that will fundamentally alter the way we live, work, and relate to one another. In its scale, scope, and complexity the transformation will be unlike anything humankind has experienced before.
Manufacturing Renaissance advocates that the public and private sector make equivalent and equitable investments in the education and community infrastructure that technological innovation demands, such that there is simultaneously an Inclusion & Industry 4.0 that facilitates the maximum number of people to participate and benefit from these advancements.
The 4h Revolution Awards celebrates regional manufacturing for its leadership and innovation as the industry stands on the brink of a new technological revolution. The ceremony culminates in the presentation of eight awards to deserving leaders, companies and industrial initiatives that have made significant contributions to the Midwest region’s manufacturing ecosystem. We were also very proud to see our Co-Chair of the Chicagoland Manufacturing Renaissance Council as a finalist for small to medium size manufacturer of the year! We wish to continue all together to promote manufacturing and expand youth’s access to the opportunities available in this Industry.
