The Chicagoland Manufacturing Renaissance Council welcomes Janice Jackson as the new CEO of Chicago Public Schools. Ms. Jackson brings an outstanding record as an educator, a school principal, and community advocate. As a proud and longtime partner of CPS, we are confident she will more than meet the challenges of improving our public education system and preparing our students to learn and lead.
The CMRC supports the Manufacturing Connect program at Austin College & Career Academy and at Bowen High School, as a symbol of the importance of education and training for youth in underserved communities. Programs like these not only provide career pathways for high school students, but they also meet industry demands, by creating the skilled workforce companies need to compete in today’s global economy. We hope that under the guidance of Ms. Jackson we can see more of these programs implemented throughout the city, particularly in those neighborhoods where unemployment and violence are still tragically the norm.
